Personal Security in the Digital World

This is a class for those who feel left behind by the digital world that is enclosing in on them and frustratingly changing the world they know.

This course will take the digitally challenged and provide a clear and concise guide to understanding and being safe in the digital world of social media, shopping, banking, scamming, and even some nice things will be covered in a safe, relaxed, friendly and positive class.

What will be covered:

• Getting online and having a safe online presence.

• social media safety.

• Stay safe from scammers: how to spot and thwart an online scam

• online banking – using a practice bank account to learn safe practice and how to survive when the banks close down.

• Shopping online – learn to do this securely and safely, and get the best deals and bargains.

• What are our little surfer children and grandchildren doing – learn to keep them safe and enjoying their time.

• Apps for fun and communicating with family.


This will be a 6 week course with 2 hours per week of attendance.

We will cover using computers, phones and tablets to access the digital world but it is not necessary to own, or bring these, as computers can be provided, and no prior knowledge is assumed.
