Discover the Bagpipes - Beginners' Class

Have you ever wanted to learn the bagpipes but never known where to start?

This new beginners’ class offers the chance to learn traditional Scottish piping in a welcoming, supportive and structured environment-with absolutely no previous musical experience needed.

Classes are led by an instructor with over 30 years of piping and teaching experience. Current Senior Piping Teacher at The Edinburgh Academy and former Pipe Major of both The Royal Irish Regiment and The Black Watch, with performance experience at 6 Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoos and appearances for world leaders and members of the Royal Family, including Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Majesty The King.

You’ll begin on practice chanter, learning the foundations of piping including technique, rhythm, music reading and traditional tunes, with progression towards the bagpipes for those who develop the appropriate skills.

Whether you’ve always wanted to play, are returning to music later in life, or simply want to try something new, this class is designed to make getting started enjoyable and achievable.
